New Project Rumour: “Death Stranding”

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding has gathered a pretty amazing cast thus far, between The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus in the main rule, The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s Mads Mikkelsen, but it appears that one player in the forthcoming PlayStation 4 game has yet to be revealed – a mysterious female protagonist, who can be seen below, from Glam and Gore’s YouTube tutorial.)

Online rumours quickly reported that actress Diane Kruger could potentially be joining boyfriend Norman Reedus in in the cast of upcoming PlayStation 4 title Death Stranding. Speculation had been heating up that Kruger was potentially the female protagonist of the upcoming project. Particularly, after being photographed with Game Director Hideo Kojima during her visit to Tokyo while on a promotional run for her latest film, In the Fade.

Kruger has now calmed down the fan frenzy by confirming that while she is a big fan, she’s not a part of Death Stranding with an added hashtag “#eventhoughImabigfanImnotpartofDeath” to her Instagram.

Diane Joins Bart Freundlich’s “After the Wedding”

Diane Kruger is set to join Julianne Moore in Bart Freudlich’s English-language re-imagining of Susanne Bier’s 2006 film, After the Wedding. Cornerstone Films, which announced the casting Thursday, is handling international sales on the film and will present it to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.

The German actress, who won the best actress prize at last year’s Cannes Film Festival for Fatih Akin’s In the Fade, will star as the manager of an orphanage in Calcutta, India, who has made it her life’s work to care for her wards. Desperately in need of money to keep the orphanage going, she believes she has found the perfect benefactor in the multi-millionaire founder of a successful media company (Moore). However, in order to receive the money, she must travel to New York to meet the woman behind the wealth. The gender-swapped character was played by Mads Mikkelsen in Bier’s Oscar-nominated original.

After the Wedding marks the fourth feature from husband-and-wife team Freundlich and Moore and their first since 2005’s Trust the Man. It will be produced by Joel Michaels and Silvio Muraglia for Paradox Studios, which is also financing. Production is scheduled to star in the spring. (Source)

Diane In Negotiations To Join “The Operative”

Diane Kruger and Eric Bana are in negotiations to star in the spy thriller The Operative with Bethlehem director Yuval Adler attached to helm.

The Operative is the story of a woman recruited by the Mossad to go undercover in Tehran who becomes entangled in a complex triangle with her handler and her subject. The screenplay is written by Adler and adapted from the Israeli best-seller “The English Teacher,” written by former Israeli intelligence officer Yiftach Reicher Atir.

Endeavor Content will handle U.S. sales. Bloom is introducing “The Operative” to foreign buyers next week at the Berlin Film Festival.

Producers are Spiro Films’ Eitan Mansuri, Archer Gray’s Anne Carey, and Match Factory Production’s Michael Weber and Viola Fügen. Teddy Schwarzman will executive produce and finance under his Black Bear Pictures banner. Le Pacte’s Jean Labadie is co-producing the film, which is supported by the Israeli Film Fund and Film and Medienstiftung NRW.

Kruger will portray a rogue spy from Israel’s feared national intelligence force Mossad, vanishes without a trace while attending her father’s funeral in London. The only clue to her whereabouts is a cryptic phone call she places to her former handler — portrayed by Bana — who is then summoned from Germany to Israel by Mossad. (Source)

Diane Addresses Quentin Tarantino Amid Allegations

Diane Kruger is coming to Quentin Tarantino’s defense amid allegations that call the director’s character and past decisions into question. Diane shared a film still of herself in character in 2009’s Inglorious Basterds to her Instagram Tuesday, along with a statement of support for the director.

“In light of the recent allegations made by Uma Thurman against Harvey Weinstein and her terrifying work experience on ‘Kill Bill,’ my name has been mentioned in numerous articles in regards to the choking scene in ‘Inglourious Basterds,'” she wrote. “This is an important moment in time and my heart goes out to Uma and anyone who has ever been the victim of sexual assault and abuse. I stand with you.”

“For the record however, I would like to say that my work experience with Quentin Tarantino was pure joy,” she continued. “He treated me with utter respect and never abused his power or forced me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with. With love, D xoxo.”

The scene in question is one in which Kruger’s character Bridget von Hammersmark is being choked to death. Kruger revealed in 2009 that her costar, Christopher Waltz, wasn’t the one who ultimately choked her for the scene; Tarantino did it.
